چکیده

In this paper, we provide an exact closed-form expression of the effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) performance under the combined effect of phase noise, frequency offset, and amplifier nonlinearities of the soft envelope limiter (SEL). This formula describes explicitly the various parameters with the system performance. After deriving the effective SNR, we evaluate the bit-error-rate (BER) for slowly fading Rayleigh channel for QPSK and 16QAM modulation formats. We also obtain the minimum total degradation (TD) versus phase noise rate for different values of frequency offset rate as a criterion of performance evaluation. We show that the degradation is increased as the phase noise levels and frequency offset levels are increased. Even worse results are obtained for 16QAM modulation format compared with QPSK modulation format. Key-Words: OFDM, CFO, Doppler spread, and amplifier nonlinearity.

OFDM System under the Combined Effect Analysis of the Phase Noise, Carrier Frequency Offset, Doppler Spread, and Amplifier Nonlinearity of the SEL

In this paper, we provide an exact closed-form expression of the effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) performance under the combined effect of the phase noise, frequency offset, and amplifier nonlinearities of the soft envelope limiter (SEL). A simplified approximate expression is also obtained for the effective SNR under certain conditions...

Simplified SNR Degradation under the Combined Effect of Imperfections Parameters in OFDM System

In this paper, we provide a simple closed-form expression of the effective signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) performance under the combined effect of synchronization errors (i.e. phase noise, carrier frequency offset, Doppler spread, sampling frequency offset, and timing jitter), transmitter I/Q imbalance, receiver I/Q imbalance, and amplifier nonl...

ICI Performance Analysis for All Phase OFDM Systems

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a strong candidate for the next generation wireless communication. But the frequency offset between the local oscillators at the transmitter and receiver causes a single frequency offset in the signal, while a time-varying channel can cause a spread of frequency offsets known as the Doppler spread. Frequency offsets ruin the orthogonal of OFD...

Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation in Ofdm Systems

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is multicarrier modulation scheme for combating channel impairments such as severe multipath fading and impulsive noise. However, the principal disadvantage of OFDM is that it is highly susceptible to carrier frequency offset (CFO). Carrier frequency offset occurs due to frequency discrepancies between transmitter and receiver and Doppler shift ...

Effect of Carrier Frequency Offset and Phase Noise on WFMT Systems

This paper presents an analysis of the effect of the carrier frequency offset and phase noise on a performance of Wavelet based Filtered Multi-Tone (WFMT) systems for a general AWGN channel. It is well known that the carrier frequency offset in OFDM System yields to significant degradation of the signal-tonoise ratio (SNR). Below I show that a novel WFMT modulation is less sensitive to the freq...
